Dr. Ulla Suokko

This October, the Kanikapila Flute Company welcomes the internationally acclaimed Finnish flute soloist and concert artist, Dr. Ulla Suokko, to Hawai’i. She is a performer, workshop leader, and music ambassador. Starting as a little girl in Finland with a flute, to earning a doctorate from The Juilliard School, to performing in prestigious concert halls, Dr. Suokko has learned valuable flute and life lessons she wholeheartedly shares through her teaching, coaching, and performances.

Ulla Suokko is not just a master of the flute; she’s a master of the art of presentation.
~ New York Concert Review

From time immemorial, the flute has communicated the messages of nurture, love, healing, and peace. Dr. Ulla Suokko passionately shares her country’s history of music and the indomitable spirit of her people through her performances and teachings. “Her flute recital was not a recital in the traditional sense: it was a theatrical presentation, a scientific study, an essay of meditation, a frolic, a history lesson, an exploration of the unexplored, and a reinventing of not just what the flute family can do, but how the heart, mind, body and soul can communicate through its seductive overtones…New York Concert Review”
